Terms of use
These terms cover this website: what you can expect from it, who you are actually contracting with when you book, and what we are and are not responsible for. Written to be read — if anything here is unclear, call us and we will explain it.
Who we are and what this site is
Samara Rentals is a vacation rental and property management company in Playa Sámara, Nicoya, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Our office is next to the post office and is open every day from 9am to 5pm. You can reach us at +506 8387 9595 or reservations@samararentals.com.
We manage rental homes in and around Sámara, and we look after properties for owners who live elsewhere. This site is ours, and we publish it in English, Spanish, French and German.

Using the site means you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
Using the site
Use it to look at the homes, read about the area and send us enquiries. Please do not attempt to break into it, copy it wholesale, harvest it with automated tools, or use it for anything unlawful or misleading.
We describe the houses carefully and keep the photographs current, but details change: furniture gets replaced, a neighbour builds, a road is repaved. Nothing on this site is a binding offer, and we cannot promise every page is free of errors.
Availability and the final price are settled when we confirm your booking in writing — not by what a page happens to show at the moment you read it.
Bookings and who you are contracting with
For the homes we manage, your contract is with Samara Rentals. We take the booking, we confirm it, and we are the ones to call if something in the house is not right.
Tours, transfers and car rental work differently. This site links you to Samara Adventures for tours, Guanashuttle for transfers and National for car rental. These are independent companies that we work with under commercial arrangements. When you book one of those services, your contract is with that company: they set their own prices, conditions, cancellation rules and insurance, and they deliver the service.
Samara Rentals is not the provider of those services. We do not operate the tours, drive the vehicles or rent out the cars. We are happy to point you in the right direction and to help you sort out a problem, but any claim about those services is between you and the company that provided them.
Every booking with us carries its own conditions — what is included, what is payable and when, and the cancellation rules. We send them with your confirmation, and they apply alongside this page.
Prices, taxes and currency
Prices for the homes we manage are shown in the currency indicated on the page. Costa Rican value added tax (IVA) applies to some services; where it applies, the rate is the one set by law and it is shown in the quote we send you.
Rates move with the season, the length of the stay and the number of guests, and exchange rates change. The price that counts is the one in your written confirmation.
Prices shown for tours, transfers and car rental come from those providers. They set them, they can change them, and what you pay is what that company confirms to you.
Content and intellectual property
The text, design and layout of this site belong to Samara Rentals, as do the photographs we commissioned or took ourselves.
Photographs of the properties are published with the permission of their owners. They may not be copied, reused or republished — by listing sites, agencies or anyone else — without written permission.
The names and logos of other companies shown here, including Samara Adventures, Guanashuttle and National, belong to those companies and are used only to identify their services.
You are welcome to link to any page. Ask us first if you want to reuse our text or images.
Links to other sites
We link out to our partners' booking pages, to maps and to other pages of local interest. The moment you follow a link, you are on someone else's site, under their terms and their privacy practices.
We do not control those sites and we cannot check them continuously. A link is not our endorsement of everything on the other side of it. If you find one broken or wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
What we are responsible for, and what we are not
We are responsible for our own work: the homes we manage, the bookings we confirm and the service we give you. If we get something wrong, tell us and we will put it right.
We are not responsible for things outside our control — weather, road conditions, power and water cuts, illness, flight delays, wildlife or the sea — nor for services delivered by other companies, including tours, transfers and car rental.
Costa Rica is a tropical country and this coast is wild. Beaches have currents, pools are often unfenced, and roads can be rough. Guests are responsible for their own safety and for supervising the children with them.
Nothing here removes rights you have under Costa Rican law. Where the law does not allow responsibility to be limited, it is not limited.
Privacy
What this site collects, what happens to whatever you send us through the form, and how to ask us to correct or delete it are all set out on our Privacy and cookies page, linked in the footer of every page. It forms part of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We update this page when the way we work changes. The version published here is the one that applies, and the date it was last updated is shown with it.
Changes do not affect a booking we have already confirmed: that booking keeps the terms that were in force when we confirmed it.
Governing law and how to reach us
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica, and any dispute goes before the Costa Rican courts.
Before it comes to that, talk to us. Most things are settled with a phone call.
